R.A.C.E. (short for "RADIO-ACTIVE CHEMICAL EXPERIMENT") played a brand of energetic Thrash/Punk that was laced with a liberal dose of British eccentricity and humour. Their set combined their own material with a selection of cover songs, including Paradise Lost's "As I Die", Rocket From The Crpyt's "On A Rope", and Green Day's "Basket Case".
The band initially went under various names, including Headrust, This Damnation, and Bloodstone, before settling on R.A.C.E.
R.A.C.E. evolved into Captain Mildred , who are still going strong.
Although Paul once said it stood for Really Amazing Cunnilingus Experts..
